In October, we went to two cities in Europe to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We started our adventure in Amsterdam. Once we grabbed our luggage from the baggage carousel we made a quick stop at Starbucks. I'm working on trying Starbucks in every country that I get to. The coffee tasted the same but as you can see, the lids are different. There was some kind of rule or law about no plastic lids.

Once we got our coffee, we headed to find the train which took us from the airport to a metro station called Centraal Station. From there, we found the metro that took us close to our hotel. We walked from there.
After we checked in at Hotel Eden, we decided to go check things out and try to stay awake for the rest of the afternoon. We saw the floating flower market called Bloemenmarkt. And we had to buy an umbrella because it was raining. We grabbed something to eat and then wandered around. We found the red light district which was about what I expected. It had been a very long day of traveling so we went back to the hotel pretty early with plans to see a lot more in the next few days.
The next couple days were filled with sightseeing, tasting traditional Dutch food, a local microbrew beer tasting tour, a huge street market, the Heineken Experience, a canal boat cruise, breakfast at the most amazing French café, some shopping, and a dinner on the final night that was so so good!
There's a lot of history in Amsterdam and we were able to check some of it out. Unfortunately, we missed out on the opportunity to go to the Anne Frank House as the limited number of tickets were sold out. They only release tickets a few weeks ahead of time and they, apparently, go very quickly. That was a bummer and something I would've liked to have seen.
My favorite parts of the trip were walking around town, trying the new foods, the beer tasting tours, and breakfast at the French café that we found on the last day.
I love travelling and seeing other parts of the world. I wish we would've had a little more time with better weather, but we still had a great time. I'd love to go back during a different time of the year and see all the things we weren't able to see in October.
