I've journaled on and off throughout my life. Sometimes I prefer to write out full paragraphs about what's going on in my life; but other times it's hard to find time. Enter Five Minute Journal. I love this thing. I've been working with mental health consultant, Ashley Machado, and she's awesome. In our first meeting, she recommended The Five Minute Journal. I ordered mine HERE. It has made such a difference in my mindset and overall mood.

Gratitude journaling can be a transformative practice that move us towards a positive outlook and enhance overall well-being. Gratitude journaling involves reflecting on the things, people, and experiences that one is thankful for. By writing down moments of gratitude, we can create a mindset of appreciation and abundance. This practice shifts the focus from what may be lacking to what is present, encouraging a sense of contentment and fulfillment in everyday life. Gratitude journaling has been linked to numerous benefits, including improved mood, increased optimism, and enhanced resilience to face challenges.

Back to the Five Minute Journal.... I chose a pink one, but there are other colors. It comes with instructions on how to best make use of the journal which are helpful.

Here's what a page in the journal look like. It takes a few minutes in the the morning and few minutes at night. The official instructions in the book say to keep it next to your bed and write in it first thing in the morning, and right before going to sleep at night.

This doesn't really work for me so I keep it on my kitchen counter. I write in it in the morning while I have coffee and then after dinner at night. Some times it is easier than other times to decide what to write. And sometimes I write things a couple days in a row, but I think that's okay.

Here's a recent day's journal entries.

I am grateful for... (1) waking up with the sun in my eyes; (2) fan/white noise to help me sleep; (3) this journal- gratitude;

What would make today great? (1) time outside- fresh air and sunshine; (2) go through closet- spring cleaning; (3) not much to do- relaxation time;

Daily affirmation: Rest and self care is essential for me;

Highlights of the day (1) wrote 4 blog posts for April; (2) cleaned out my closet; (3) quiet day at home- refreshing;

What did I learn today? a quiet day at home is so refreshing for me.

Fulfilling the promise to myself of writing in this journal feels really good. And it makes me so proud of myself.
