075- What's on my mind Wednesday?

Sometimes I really struggle with what to write about in these posts. I have 20-30 posts that I've started or have notes about, but today I just don't have it in me to write a long post. I don't know about you but I feel like I have 1000 thoughts that have nothing to do with each other, running through my head. Want to know what's on my mind?

It's so hard to believe it's the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on September 11. Like most people, I remember EXACTLY where I was when I heard the news. Abigail had turned 1 a couple days before and let me tell you, it was very scary knowing that I was bringing up a baby in that world. While no one would ever want to endure that day again, it did bring the country together. It sure would be nice to have that back, rather than the division that we currently have. And on that note...

Our country is in trouble, come November, no matter who gets elected as President of the USA. Neither of our choices are good. I don't want to get into a political debate but I know I am not the only one that feels this way. Speaking of debates, what a waste of time! Did we actually learn anything about the candidates and how they plan to help our country? Or did we just watch a session of name-calling and mud-slinging?

California is NOT a business friendly state. I am currently going through an audit with the California Employment Development Department, which is the agency that deals with state payroll taxes, unemployment claims, etc. What a complete pain the ass. The auditor flat out told me that I am not paying myself enough.... not because she cares about what I am taking home, but because I am to withholding (and paying out to them) enough in payroll taxes. Am I the only one that thinks there is something wrong with this picture?

Rent control is a bad idea! A post devoted to this is coming soon so I will save my thoughts on that for the post. Suffice it to say, rent control has the opposite effect of what is supposed to do.

On a happier note, Andy and I went to visit our daughter Abigail and her boyfriend Felix last weekend. We did two escape rooms and they are so fun! I had someone ask me what they were. Wikipedia says, "an escape room, also known as an escape game, puzzle room, exit game, or riddle room is a game in which a team of players discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms in order to accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time. The goal is often to escape from the site of the game." You have a time limit of 30-60 minutes to "escape" (depending on the room) and each room has a different theme. It's a great activity to do with a group and has become one of my favorite things when we travel to a new place. I've done escape rooms in Twin Falls Idaho, Texas, and several in southern California.

Thanks for putting up with my random thoughts today. What is your on mind this week?
