Boudoir photography has been gaining popularity over the years, and for good reason. Boudoir photoshoots are intimate, empowering, and can boost self-confidence. I've done several shoots in my lifetime. I actually used to shoot boudoir photography when I had my photo studio. It was so fun to see a woman open up and be proud of who she was. No one is perfect; we all have those areas that we don't love about our bodies. I truly believe that we are all too hard on our bodies. We rarely talk to ourselves about what we love about our bodies-- its so much easier to focus on the negative. Have you ever made a list of things you love about your body?

Here are five reasons why women should consider doing a boudoir photoshoot:
Embrace your body: Women often have insecurities about their bodies, whether it's stretch marks, scars, or cellulite. A boudoir photoshoot is an opportunity to embrace your body and love yourself exactly as you are. A skilled boudoir photographer can capture your beauty in a way that makes you feel confident and proud of your body.
Celebrate a milestone: Whether it's a milestone birthday, anniversary, or other significant event (like being declared cancer-free!), a boudoir photoshoot is a perfect way to celebrate. You can capture this moment in your life and look back on it with fond memories.
Empowerment: Boudoir photography is all about empowerment. It's a chance to feel confident, sexy, and in control. A boudoir photoshoot can give you a new perspective on yourself and help you see yourself in a more positive light. There's a great chance that when you see yourself in the photos, you'll see the positive attributes that others see in you.
Unique gift: A boudoir photoshoot can be a unique and meaningful gift for your partner. It's an intimate way to show your love and appreciation for them. Many boudoir photographers offer "little black books" or small albums to help you enjoy your photos.
Self-love (my favorite reason!!): Ultimately, a boudoir photoshoot is an act of self-love. It's a chance to invest in yourself, to take care of yourself, and to celebrate who you are. A boudoir photoshoot can help you see yourself in a new light, and inspire you to continue to love and care for yourself in the future.
The most recent boudoir shoot I did was at Texas School Photography, where I was photographed by the amazing Jen Rozenbaum, who is also a breast cancer survivor. I even had my hair and makeup professionally done, which I would HIGHLY recommend. It really adds to the experience. Jen decided to make my session a breast cancer survivor empowerment session. Enter pink backdrop! I have a lot more photos that I will probably share at a later date. Someday I want to go visit Jen in NY and have a session done at her studio.

Some women may not be comfortable wearing lingerie or anything revealing. And you don't have to! You can still have a great experience with amazing photos, fully clothed. Your photographer will help you design your session to fit your needs and wishes.
A boudoir photoshoot is a beautiful way for women to embrace their bodies, celebrate a milestone, feel empowered, give a unique gift, and practice self-love. It's a chance to capture a moment in time and see yourself in a new light. If you're considering a boudoir photoshoot, remember that it's about celebrating yourself and embracing your beauty. Just do it.... you will be glad that you did and you will make yourself proud!
