Do you have a favorite place to get that gives you a break from this crazy thing we call adult-life? What types of activities help you feel refreshed? We went to one of my favorite places this weekend. Can you guess where? I guess the title of blog post already gave it away! Yes, that's right. We went to San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach for the weekend. Priority number one was visiting Abigail one last time before she finishes her teaching credential and moves south. Don't tell her this, but we will continue to visit SLO even after she's moved from the area.

As you may know, Andy and I both went to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (the OG Cal Poly!). We both loved it in SLO and take every opportunity to go back to visit. Sometimes we stay in SLO; sometimes we stay in Pismo Beach. This time it was Pismo Beach.
Our favorite place to stay in Pismo is The Inn at the Pier. They have a really cool rooftop bar and restaurant is great place to watch the sunset. We like to get a room with a balcony to enjoy the views of the pier and the beach. I also, personally like to leave the sliding door open a bit and hear the ocean at night. Its very soothing to hear the waves crashing. I'm pretty sure I inherited that from my mom who loves the beach! There is a "Pismo Beach" sign that changes colors throughout the evening which is also cool to watch.
It's very close to the Pismo Pier which is our favorite morning walking spot. We like to get coffee and walk to the end of the pier. Sometimes there are people fishing off the pier and there is usually a lot of surfers to watch. Fun fact- Andy proposed to me in November 1997 at the very end of the pier. Its a nice walk down memory lane.... no pun intended.

It was a fun weekend of good meals and drinks, relaxing, a little bit of sun and time with Abigail and Felix. It was just a weekend trip (not nearly long enough) but it was still such a good break from daily life at home. We all need that break.
One thing I definitely have realized over the past couple years is how important it is to take a break, get out of town, and get refreshed. Even just for a few days. My favorite things to do are morning walks (must get coffee), trying new restaurants, listening to the waves, and relaxing with a good book. Those are things that help me feel refreshed and ready to go back to daily adult-life.
I would love to hear what helps you get refreshed or places you love to go. I'm proud of myself for knowing what I need and where to go to get it. Don't forget to do that for yourself, and make yourself proud.
