EIF = Everything is Figureoutable! I've been wanting to write about this book, written by Marie Forleo, and it's concept for a while now. This idea is front-and-center as I am figuring out my cancer treatment stuff. {Still waiting to hear back from UC Davis on the referral}. But there's a lot more good wisdom in this book that we can all apply to our lives.

How many times have we come across a challenge in our life (big or small) and thought to ourselves, how on earth will I survive this? It's easy to feel overwhelmed and doubt our abilities to overcome whatever our current challenge might be. There is a powerful mindset that can transform our perspective and help us tackle any problem that comes our way.

In this thought-provoking and inspirational read, Forleo helps us pivot from "How on earth will I figure this out" to "Everything is Figureoutable." She wants us to know that with the right mindset and determination, we truly can figure out anything. Here are some of my favorite ideas in this book.

  1. The Power of Belief: I truly believe that there can be several solutions to any problem that might come along. Sometimes its easy to think there is no good solution. I've repeated the phrase, everything is figureoutable a LOT in the last week. I think it's important to believe that we DO have the power to find solutions to any problem we encounter. Our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality, and by embracing the notion that everything is figureoutable, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities. This helps us overcome self-doubt and tap into our resourcefulness.

  2. Embracing Growth Mindset: The author highlights the importance of adopting a growth mindset—a belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. Instead of viewing challenges as roadblocks, we learn to see them as opportunities for growth. One of my favorite quotes ever is "Opportunities are obstacles in disguise." I think about this quote often, especially with business stuff. With a growth mindset, failure becomes a stepping stone to success, and we become more resilient.

  3. Taking Action: While belief and mindset are crucial, Forleo stresses the importance of taking action. She encourages readers to move beyond wishful thinking and take practical steps towards their goals. By breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks (hello spreadsheets! I couldn't live without my spreadsheets-- it's a Giacomini thing) and consistently taking action (even in baby steps), we start making progress.

  4. Overcoming Fear and Limiting Beliefs: Fear often holds us back from figuring out the solutions to our problems. The book provides some strategies for overcoming fear and working through our limiting beliefs. By challenging the stories we tell ourselves, we can break free from self-imposed limitations. You can bet that fear has been an ever-present theme running through my head lately, as well as the rest of my family. It's hard not to be afraid of the "C" word. But once a treatment plan is in place, and there is forward movement, it helps work through things.

  5. Cultivating Resilience: I think we could all agree that success rarely comes without setbacks and challenges. Forleo reminds us that resilience and persistence are key ingredients for achievement. By developing resilience, we bounce back from failure and setbacks with renewed determination. With persistence, we maintain our focus and keep pushing forward, even if there are bumps in the road.

  6. Building a Supportive Community: In "EIF," Forleo emphasizes the importance of surrounding ourselves with a supportive community. By sharing our challenges and learning from others, we can tap into a wealth of knowledge and support. Building meaningful connections reminds us that we're not alone on our journey. THIS is one of the major reasons that I started this blog. At the time, I didn't know about this new cancer diagnosis. However, I love to share things that have helped me and/or I think will help others. It's not always easy for me to share personal things, but I feel like it's important.

This book, which is currently on my "Top 10 List of Favorite Personal Development Books," reminds us of our ability to overcome obstacles and create the life we truly want. Through belief, having a growth mindset, taking action, overcoming fear and limiting beliefs, cultivating resilience, and building a supportive community, we can navigate this thing we call life. With this book guiding us, we are empowered to embrace challenges and discover that indeed, everything is figureoutable. Check this book out and let me know what you think. It's just one more thing you can do to make yourself proud!
